As parents, we naturally want what is best for our children. We don’t want to worry about calling poison control when our kids get into our “things.” But we also want it to WORK! There’s nothing worse than feeling helpless when your kiddo is uncomfortable.
It's time to eliminate those feelings of worry and helplessness and replace them with confidence and empowerment as we learn about some amazing products for your kiddos!
Our children are not just little adults. Their bodies are continually growing, developing, and changing and are more vulnerable to the negative effects of harmful chemicals in their environment.
According to a research article from Health Affairs, there are four main differences that contribute to a child’s heightened susceptibility to chemical exposure:
Children have greater exposure to toxic chemicals for their body weight than adults.
Children’s metabolic pathways are immature, and a child’s ability to metabolize toxic chemicals is different from an adult’s.
Children’s early developmental processes are easily disrupted.
Children have more time than adults to develop chronic diseases.
This is why it is important to look around your home and take a closer look at the everyday household and personal care products you are using on yourself and your children.
ACTION STEP: Grab one or two of the products you use most often on your kids, flip them over, and read the ingredients. Pick the first couple ingredients and do a quick internet search of “dangers of ____." Does anything surprise or alarm you?
Safety & Usage
Let's start off by looking at the ways you can use Young Living essential oils and supplements.
AROMATICALLY: Put 6-8 drops of an essential oil or a combo in your diffuser. The diffuser will send the oil into the air and fill the room with the scent and beneficial properties of the oils.
TOPICALLY: Apply essential oils to your skin. Dilute your oils with a carrier oil if using topically, especially if you’ve never used them before. It is recommended that you use one drop of essential oil with 10-15 drops of coconut, olive, or almond oil and then apply it to your skin. The oils from the KidScents line come pre-diluted to make application easy, taking the guesswork out of diluting it yourself. The recommended application is for children ages 2-12 but many mothers use them on children younger than that. Remember, you know your child the best. Use your best judgement and see what works for them. Start ‘low and slow’ - apply to the feet, using just a drop or two and go from there.
As always, when using essential oils on adults or children, you never want to put them directly into the eyes or ears. Citrus oils like Lemon are photosensitive. Please avoid sun exposure for 12 hours after application to areas where you have applied citrus oils topically. Avoid putting essentials oils in the eyes or ears directly.
INTERNALLY: Young Living oils are pure and are labeled as Generally Regarded as Safe by the Food and Drug Administration. Because of their purity, some people like to ingest their oils to avoid "smelling" like an oil, or to support their body from the inside out. Oils that are safe for ingestion carry our Vitality Oil label.
SUPPLEMENTS: Follow the directions on each individual supplement package for proper safety and usage.

Products that are formulated with synthetic ingredients may not provide any results and can potentially cause damage to your body. Eucalyptus Blue - unique Eucalyptus oil grown in Ecuador
Palo Santo - known as the poor man’s Frankincense
Lavender - balancing and calming

Ravintsara - has purifying properties that are a cross between nutmeg and clove

The name pretty much says it all, but it involves way more than you are probably thinking. You can grab Owie when your little one has some skin that needs soothing. You can even grab this oil to help ease emotional and mental hurt and stress... an area we may tend to overlook.
Children have to work through some of the same feelings and emotions as adults do, but at times it can be harder for them to process. Oils have a powerful impact on the emotional center of the brain and can be a great tool when helping your little ones deal with emotional trauma of their own.
