Accelerate Growth: Dive Deeper into Restructuring

Restructuring is a way to set your team and yourself up for success by accelerating the growth of your business.  It organizes your downline in a manner that helps the members on your team AND builds you up at the same time. When you move a personally enrolled member to another sponsor, you are giving them two amazing support systems, yourself and the incredible person you are pairing them with!

Restructuring is a strategic move that allows you to maximize Young Living's compensation plan.  You may also hear restructuring referred to as "stacking," though this term is not preferred. Restructuring is when you change the sponsor of your new enrollment.  You remain the enroller, but you move the person under a new sponsor to create legs.

  • When you change the sponsor, you are simply changing their placement within your downline.  You remain the enroller and retain the Start Living and Fast Start Bonuses.

  • Movement must happen within 30 calendar days of the new member's enrollment date.  If the move is within 5 days, you can simply call customer service at (800) 371-3515, or contact them via Live Chat.  If it has been 6-30 calendar days, you will need to email (from the email on file with YL): resolutions@youngliving.com

  • When you contact Young Living, you will say (or type):
Hello, this is (your name), Member #___________, PIN #____.
I would like to move my new member please.  I will remain the enroller and would like to change the sponsor only.
Please move (new member name), Member #_________.  The new sponsor will be (new sponsor name), Member #_______.
    Thank you.

If there is ONE business concept that you NEED to understand, it's THIS ONE!!  You want to do your best to get this set up from the very beginning. If you're a little way into building, don't fret... just begin from this point forward.  Take the time to watch these three short videos to get some foundation for restructuring. You will need to be a member of our Enlightened Oilers Mentorship Facebook group to view these.

Building Your Team

Once you begin building and restructuring your downline, you become a team leader.  You must begin to think like a leader. Don't let this frighten you as you are not alone.  Even leaders get support from mentors and other leaders. Once you begin building and restructuring, you are building a business.  You are in charge of your business. You are the boss. YOU ARE A LEADER! As a business owner, as a leader, you need to decide where it is you are going.  This will be different for everyone, but for strategy and training sake, and to make sure everyone is covered, we will assume you are reaching for Royal Crown Diamond!  So, how do you get there?

All you need to get to RCD is SIX incredible leaders who want walk this adventure with you.  That's it... just 6! With the end goal in mind, begin building toward this from the beginning!  These six front line, direct to you, people are the people you CHOOSE to partner with. These are the people you want to go to work with every single day.  These are people you know you can trust to run a business because your business runs well when theirs runs well.

These SIX people are the most important decision you will make!

Will you find these six people from the very beginning?  Most likely not, but you can sure keep an eye and ear out for them.  In the meantime, begin with 1, 2, and 3. Many of us begin with close family members or friends enrolling and becoming legs for us.  This helps in getting your legs started while you are discovering additional builders. As you find people you know you can trust and who are enthusiastic about the opportunity that lies before them, make them your 4th, 5th, and 6th legs.  For many of us, a few of these legs are trusted and close family members or best friends you've known forever. Others will be amazing people you meet along your journey. Some may even be people your upline chooses to bless you with. Join hands, support each other, and grow together!

What questions might you ask when looking for these six leaders?

  • Are they self-motivated?

  • Do they have leadership qualities?

  • Do they match with my brand?

  • Do our color personalities complement each other? (bring many talents to the table for collaboration)

  • Do I love talking to them and spending time with them?

  • Do they have strong social networks?

Once you can answer these questions, you will know whether to make them part of your first six direct to you, or if you will bless other leaders on your team with someone that fits well with them where they will be best supported.  It is also important that you let your upline know what kind of people you are looking for, so your leader has a better understanding of where to place the members they want to restructure.

Where Do We Place Members When Restructuring?

Watch this short video to learn who to partner your new members with:

Video #4: Who do we bless when restructuring?

Here are some guidelines to help you decide which leader to bless with new members:

  1. The leader is a good match for the new member and will provide support.

  2. The leader is on Essential Rewards with 100PV or greater and using PV Assist.  This is very important because you want to ensure these members are consistent and committed.  PV Assist will ensure they do not drop below the 100PV needed to earn commission and qualify as a leg.

  3. The leader is going through or has completed the Business Foundations class.

  4. The leader is going through or has completed the "Dream. Grow. Inspire."  training program.

  5. The leader is actively contributing to The Enlightened Oilers Essential Oil Community Facebook group.

  6. The leader is actively using, loving, and sharing their oils with others.

A Little More Strategy to Consider:

  • When you are first starting out, begin restructuring right away under the first two people who are doing the business (using the guidelines above).  This will set you up right away to begin climbing ranks and increasing your paychecks. Anyone you feel will be a big leader should be left out as one of your frontline leaders.

  • Always build one leg ahead of the rank you are looking to achieve next.  So, since both Executive and Silver count on two strong legs, you want to be building three legs.  This ensures you have a strong foundation and helps you with other leadership rank requirements and begins building an extra leg that will start organically growing.  This is important because sometimes it feels difficult to begin a new leg from scratch. Remember, since you only need six legs total, there is no reason to build ten legs.  Build 6-7 legs. A seventh leg (which is usually kept small) helps ensure you always have the 1000 PGV needed outside your qualifying legs for the ranks of Silver and above.

  • Since you only get paid unilevel commission on your first 5 levels, do not move your members down below level 5.  In the very beginning you may want to look at your current rank and keep your restructuring to the levels under which you are being paid or one level higher.  For example: If you are a Star, you are only paid on levels 1-3. You may want to restructure only through level 3. Once you reach Senior Star, you get paid on levels 1-4, so you can then begin moving people all the way down to level 4.  Executive and above get paid down to level 5.

  • When restructuring, do your best to keep your legs even.  Strong enrollers should be placed on smaller teams. Yes, you don't always know who these people will be, but you can assume they will if they have a lot of connections or a strong social media following.  Those with great leadership qualities should be placed on teams that don't have strong leadership. If the member has no interest in the business side at all, they should be placed with the team that has the lowest OGV (or where you need an OGV boost) at the time you are placing the member.
